Singer D4vd Faces Preliminary Hearing in LA Murder Case

American musician David Anthony Burke, performing as D4vd, has appeared at a Los Angeles preliminary hearing following charges of murdering, abusing, and dismembering 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

Prosecutors contend Burke fatally stabbed the teenager in April 2025 after she threatened to expose their relationship, which threatened his lucrative music career.

Law enforcement revealed that Celeste’s remains were discovered inside the front trunk of Burke’s Tesla in September 2025. Investigations uncovered hidden chemical stains in Burke’s garage alongside matching DNA profiles, while online records indicated he purchased body bags, chainsaws, and cleaning supplies following her death. In addition, the victim’s passport was recovered beside a California highway in early 2026.

Burke, who earned over $7.2 million through Interscope Records before his contract was terminated, has pleaded not guilty. His defence team challenged the prosecution, stressing that forensic tests were presumptive. Addressing the harrowing evidence, the victim’s family attorney, Patrick Steinfeld, remarked: “It’s a parent’s worst nightmare.”

If convicted of first-degree murder, the 21-year-old faces life imprisonment without parole or the death penalty.
