Steve Komphela Appointed Coach of Golden Arrows
Steve Komphela is back in the coaching seat, and this time it’s Lamontville Golden Arrows who will be receiving his guidance.
Last month, Komphela departed Moroka Swallows after only seven months on the job. His brief tenure was marred by financial and administrative issues at Swallows, which saw players being unable to honour match fixtures.
On Thursday, 7 March, the 56-year-old was named as Golden Arrows’ new coach.
“Lamontville Golden Arrows welcomes back coach Steve Komphela, who is no stranger to the club, the values and culture of the club,” per a statement released on their social media channels. “We look forward to his knowledge and guidance as we seek to finish the season strong. Welcome back, Steve.”
Komphela previously managed the club during the 2019/20 season. During this time, he led them out of near-relegation and into 10th place on the Premier Soccer League rankings.
Having lost 11 matches in a row this season, Arrows are now languishing in 12th place (with 23 points) on the same rankings.
So, here’s hoping Komphela can turn their fortunes around once more when they take on Polokwane City at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Limpopo this Sunday, 10 March!
