Tammy Abraham Switches to Roma
Chelsea striker, Tammy Abraham, is swapping his blue shirt for a maroon one after completing a switch to Serie A club, A.S. Roma.
On Tuesday, 17 August, Roma announced on its website that the 23-year-old Englishman was joining them on a five-year deal worth €40 million, and will be donning the No. 9 shirt that was left vacant by Edin Dzeko.
The club explained: “The overall transfer agreement also includes a number of performance-related clauses, based on the achievements of both [Abraham] and the club. Chelsea will also retain the right to a percentage of any future transfer fee involving the striker.”
Following coach Thomas Tuchel’s arrival in January, Abraham fell down the pecking order within the Blues, for whom he scored 30 goals in 82 games; he also recently helped them to win the UEFA Champions League
Speaking about the move, he commented: “Roma is a club that deserves to be fighting for titles and trophies. I’ve had the experience of winning major trophies … so I want to help this team to achieve that and get to the level where Roma should be.”
