Top Specialist Coach Joins Orlando Pirates
A new addition has been made to Orlando Pirates’ backroom staff, and he’s got the right credentials to help boost their strikers’ performances.
Per reports, Scott Chikelday has been hired by the Bucs as a specialist forward coach. As his new title suggests, the Englishman will be focusing on coaching the club’s goalscorers and improving their overall attack.
“Wow! What a first day with Orlando Pirates,” Chickelday tweeted on Thursday, 5 January. “Never felt so welcomed at a club. Some great people within this set-up and some fantastic players. Really excited to be working within this fantastic club.”
A former academy coach who has worked with Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers, Chickelday has lent his services to a variety of English Premier League stars. Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins are just some of the players who have benefited from their private, one-on-one practice sessions with him.
Orlando Pirates are set to face Cape Town City FC tomorrow, Saturday 7 January – here’s hoping Chickelday’s influence will be felt between the first and final whistles!
