Tottenham Rise to Top Four
Tottenham Hotspur have clawed their way into fourth place of the English Premier League (EPL) rankings after defeating Nottingham Forest 3-1 last night, Sunday 7 April.
The Spurs used the home turf to their advantage as the two teams went head-to-head at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England.
Forest opened the scoring with an embarrassing blunder as defender Murillo scored an own goal just 15 minutes after the starting whistle rang out. Striker Chris Wood reclaimed a bit of dignity for the visitors and he scored the first point for his side at the 27-minute mark.
After a largely listless first half, defender Micky van de Ven finally sparked some passion among his Spurs teammates in the 52nd minute as he scored the second goal for his side. Six minutes later, defender Pedro Porro sealed the deal with some quick footwork, bringing the scoreboard to 3-1.
For Tottenham manager, Ange Postecoglou, the real victory was watching his side improve. “I couldn’t care less about the race for fourth, mate,” Postecoglou said during the post-match press conference. “What I care about is the way the team progresses,” he added.
It’s a comfortable position for the club, who will be hoping to maintain it until the end of the current EPL season next month.
