Catch up on the latest news, rumours and announcements from the world of video games, tech and entertainment:
– NCSoft, the South Korean studio behind “Lineage” and “Guild Wars”, is planning to lay off some of its employees amid a company restructuring.
– According to a joint statement from co-CEOs Taek-Jin Kim and Byung-Moo Park, these lay-offs are part of a broader effort to streamline operations as the studio attempts to recover from its financial crisis stemming caused by declining game revenues.
– Despite receiving positive reviews upon its release in January 2024, Ubisoft are reportedly halting support for “Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown” following the platformer’s perceived low sales. As a result, its France-based development team has been disbanded.
– In related news, Ubisoft are also cancelling early access to the collector’s edition of “Assassin’s Creed Shadows”. This is due to the game’s release date being postponed to February 2025 in order to polish and to address concerns over historical and cultural accuracy.
– Almost two weeks after the successful launch of “Metaphor: ReFantazio”, director Katsura Hashino has announced that he and Studio Zero are currently developing a new game. He remained mum about what the new project entails.
