Wednesday Gaming – Studio Closure, Legend of Zelda, Metroid and MORE!

Catch up on the latest news, rumours and announcements from the world of video games, tech and entertainment:

– Galvanic Games, the Seattle-based developers behind titles such as “Rapture Rejects”, “Some Distant Memory” and “Wizard with a Gun”, is permanently shutting its doors.

– Regarding Galvanic’s closure, president and founder Patrick Morgan tweeted: “Despite the promising start of ‘Wizard with a Gun’, sales are not strong enough to sustain our studio. The last year has been particularly tough for games. While we had numerous encouraging conversations at DICE and GDC, the process of signing new projects, even in a good year, takes longer than the runway we had left.”

– A new, 2D-style “The Legend of Zelda” game, titled “Echoes of Wisdom” is coming to Nintendo Switch later this year, and it will star Princess Zelda as the protagonist this time around. The plot sees Zelda using the power of the Tri-Rod to save the kingdom of Hyrule, and to solve the disappearance of Link and her subjects. “Echoes of Wisdom” is set to launch on 26 September.

– “Metroid Prime 4: Beyond” is also coming to Nintendo Switch in 2025. A recently released trailer shows the protagonist, Samus Aran, fighting space pirates and alien factions.

– Brandon Keener, best known for voicing Garrus Vakarian from the “Mass Effect” video game series, is set to voice Kai in the upcoming RPG, “Avowed”.
