Zimbabwe Government: Get the Jab or Else

Zimbabwean authorities are strongly encouraging their employees to receive the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine, or simply quit.

Justice minister, Ziyambi Ziyambi, made the announcement while talking to a local radio station on Tuesday, 7 September.

He said that the government is making every effort to combat the spread of the virulent affliction, including taking strict measures.

Ziyambi explained: “If you are a government employee, for the protection of others and the people you are serving, get vaccinated. But if you want to enjoy your rights … you can resign.”

There are currently over 200 000 people who work for the country’s administration. Of the general population, 1.7 million have received the jab.

The country has already made vaccinations mandatory for those who wish to trade, exercise at the gym, eat out at restaurants, and write university exams.

Zimbabwe has seen 125 796 recorded cases of the virus, with 117 456 recoveries to date, while 4 503 citizens have lost their lives.
