Bayern Munich Eyeing Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo
Bayern Munich coach, Thomas Tuchel, is reportedly eyeing up a move for FC Barcelona centre-back, Ronald Araujo.
For the past three years, Araujo – who was promoted to Barcelona’s first team in 2020 – has impressed pundits and fans alike for his dynamic, on-pitch prowess and defensive skill set, making him one of the most talented centre-backs in Europe.
Now, according to recent reports, the 24-year-old Uruguay international has attracted interest from Tuchel, who is eager to freshen up his defensive options at the Allianz Arena.
However, Bayern may have trouble attaining Araujo’s signature, as Barca are apparently keen to extend his current contract, which runs until 2026.
What’s more, the centre-back himself previously stated that he would like to stay at Barca and, hopefully, don the captain’s armband one day.
“I am proud of the possibility of becoming a Barcelona captain,” he declared in an interview earlier this year. “I consider myself a natural leader, regardless of whether I wear the armband or not, and that will continue for the rest of my career. I feel important and I think that was seen last year. I have to maintain that and help the team. We have to have a better season than last year.”
