Celebrity Sangoma Gogo Manzini Dies After Short Illness

South African celebrity sangoma and transgender activist Gogo Manzini has died following a brief illness.

The well-known media personality – born Tyra Sindane – passed away on Thursday, 5 June, as confirmed by her family via Instagram.

Gogo Manzini rose to prominence through her unconventional spiritual practices and due to outspoken advocacy for the LGBTQIA+ community. Earlier this year, she went to Turkey to undergo multiple cosmetic procedures, including a Brazilian butt lift, rhinoplasty, and breast augmentation.

She often spoke candidly about her body transformation journey, describing it as a bold statement of self-empowerment and identity.

Beyond her spiritual work, she was the founder of KOS Casting Agency, which aimed to uplift aspiring performers and talents in the media industry. Her unapologetic presence on social media and commitment to self-expression earned her both admiration and criticism.

Tributes have poured in from fans, friends, and fellow public figures, many expressing shock and sadness. The family has asked for privacy and has confirmed that details of her memorial service will be announced soon.

Gogo Manzini leaves behind a legacy of fearless authenticity, community healing, and a relentless pursuit of personal freedom.
