Daniel Akpeyi Linked With Three PSL Clubs
Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi, appears to be on the radar of not one, but THREE Premier League Soccer clubs.
The 35-year-old Nigerian international was axed by Amakhosi after the club chose not to renew his contract – which expired on 30 June – thus making him a free agent.
Now, according to reports, no less than three clubs are interested in acquiring Akpeyi’s services: Royal AM, Moroka Swallows and Chippa United. Having registered five clean sheets in 12 matches for Kaizer Chiefs last season, it’s no wonder that these clubs are looking to sign him.
Of the three outfits, the shotstopper indicated in a recent radio interview that Royal AM would be his go-to destination.
“I’ve read and I’ve watched them throughout the season and before the end of last season,” he explained. “They are a team that’s looking forward to being one of the big teams in the league, [and] in South Africa.
“So, it looks like a team that shares my vision of winning things and wants to compete, and I wouldn’t mind if I have an offer from them. I mean, I wouldn’t mind joining such a team.”
With Akpeyi entering the twilight of his career, it remains to be seen which club will ultimately take him on before he starts winding down.
