Dean Huijsen Joins Bournemouth in £15m Deal

Bournemouth have secured the signing of Dutch-Spanish defender Dean Huijsen from Juventus for an initial £12.6 million, which could potentially rise to £15.2 million with add-ons.

The 19-year-old centre-back, who has represented the Netherlands and Spain at youth levels, is Bournemouth’s sixth mid-year signing following agreements with Luis Sinisterra, Enes Unal, Alex Paulsen, Daniel Jebbison, and Koby Mottoh.

Huijsen began his career at Costa Unida in Spain, later moving to Malaga and then to Juventus three years ago. He made his Serie A debut against AC Milan and spent the latter half of the last season on loan at Roma, where he played 13 matches and scored two goals.

Liverpool had been interested in Huijsen, but their focus shifted towards developing their own young talent, Jarell Quansah.

Bournemouth, under the guidance of their new president of football operations, Tiago Pinto, managed to secure the youngster’s signature despite rival interest. Pinto previously facilitated Huijsen’s loan to Roma during his tenure as manager there.

As the Cherries look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season, owner Bill Foley remains optimistic about retaining striker Dominic Solanke, who has a £65-million release clause. The addition of Huijsen bolsters the club’s defence, positioning them strongly for the challenges ahead.
