Everton Send Well Wishes to Former Captain
Everton have issued a statement offering their support to former captain, Kevin Campbell, who is currently in hospital.
“Not just a great footballer but an incredible person, Kevin is, and always has been, a fighter and we wish him and his family well at this challenging time. Sending all our love,” said the English Premier League (EPL) club via X, formerly known as Twitter, on Sunday, 2 June.
The 54-year-old football pundit was admitted to the hospital last week for an undisclosed illness. As of yet, neither he nor his family have shared an official update on his health.
During his illustrious EPL career, the striker played for several major clubs, including Arsenal (where he made his debut in 1988), Nottingham Forest, Everton and West Bromwich Albion.
While playing with the Gunners, Campbell helped the team win both the FA Cup and League Cup in 1993, after which they went on to win the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in 1994.
Campbell joined the Toffees on loan in 1999, where he quickly became a fan favourite. He later made the move permanently to the club, where he became captain and stayed until 2005.
