“Excited” Mykhailo Mudryk is Blues-Bound

Chelsea FC have struck a deal with Shakhtar Donetsk to sign midfielder Mykhailo Mudryk.

According to a statement released on Chelsea’s official website on Monday, 16 January, Mudryk has signed on at the English outfit for eight-and-a-half years.

The 22-year-old Ukrainian international’s deal is worth €100 million – that’s €70 million guaranteed, plus €30 million in add-ons.

The signing comes soon after reports claimed that Arsenal had been pursuing Mukryk’s services for a long time. However, they were unable to, or refused to, cough up €100 million to Shakhtar.

“I’m so happy to sign for Chelsea,” Mudryk commented following his move to the Blues. “This is a huge club, in a fantastic league and it is a very attractive project for me at this stage of my career. I’m excited to meet my new team-mates and I’m looking forward to working and learning under Graham Potter and his staff.”
