Ibrahimovic Facing Potential Ban
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is courting controversy once again after a slew of claims surfaced, but one allegation might force him into early retirement.
The AC Milan striker is renowned for his skill as a player, but his abrasive personality is often the source of many headlines.
Now, according to a report published by a Swedish news outlet on Wednesday, 14 April, alleges that Ibrahimovic owns a company called Unknown AB, which has shares in Malta-based betting business, Bethard – however, FIFA and UEFA guidelines prohibit registered players from having financial interests in betting companies.
The penalty for such an action could see Ibrahimovic facing suspension, paying a hefty fine, or receiving a three-year ban from all associated soccer competitions.
Should FIFA and UEFA investigations prove the allegations to be true, Ibrahimaovic is in huge trouble.
Due to the seriousness of the infraction, the ban is likely to be handed out, which could potentially result in the 39-year-old Swede being forced into early retirement, effectively ending his footballing career.
He already hung up his international boots in 2016 after the UEFA European Championship in France.
