Jada Pinkett Smith Breaks Silence Over Oscars Slap
Actress Jada Pinkett Smith has broken her silence after her husband, Will Smith, slapped Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards on Sunday, 27 March.
During the ceremony, Rock made a joke about Pinkett Smith’s shaved head, calling her “G.I. Jane” in reference to the 1997 film.
In response, Smith rushed on stage and slapped the comedian. The action has divided fans, with some applauding the actor for defending his wife – who suffers from alopecia, a hair loss condition – while others have lambasted him for resorting to violence.
On Tuesday, 29 March, Pinkett Smith took to Instagram, posting a text post with no accompanying caption.
“This is a season for healing and I’m here for it,” it simply reads.
Her post comes a day after her husband formally issued an apology to Rock, the Academy and his fans on Instagram, so it’s safe to say that the couple are beginning to find closure following the incident.
