José Mourinho Wants FFP “Justice”
Former Manchester United manager, José Mourinho, has emphasised the need for “justice” in Manchester City’s ongoing Financial Fair Play (FFP) case, while dismissing claims he wants Pep Guardiola’s team relegated.
During a recent interview, Mourinho – who now manages Turkish team, Fenerbahçe – acknowledged his intense rivalry with Guardiola, dating back to their clashes in Spain and Manchester. However, he insists their relationship remains respectful.
“Pep and I worked together for three years, we know we love each other,” the 61-year-old football boss stated. “All I want is justice. Small teams are penalised for minor FFP breaches, while larger clubs escape consequences. I don’t think this is fair.”
The English Premier League’s investigation into Man City includes 130 charges related to financial misconduct spanning 14 years. The case concluded in December, but verdicts and potential sanctions – which are likely to include fines, points deductions or relegation – may take months to finalise.
City strongly denies any wrongdoing, with a final decision on the case potentially delayed until the end of next season.
