Katlego Maboe Seeking R4 Million in Damages
Disgraced television personality, Katlego Maboe, is suing his ex-wife and three other parties for R4 million.
In a video clip posted last October, Maboe’s ex-wife, Monique Muller, alleged that he was unfaithful, had physically abused her, and that he gave her a sexually-transmitted infection that damaged her womb.
In addition to losing his presenting gig on “Expresso Morning Show”, Maboe – who admitted to only being unfaithful – lost his nomination for Best TV Presenter at the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAS) five months ago.
Last Thursday, 2 September, the 34-year-old sent letters of demand to Muller and her brother Seth, as well as Sabrina Walters of Women for Change, and Dr Janet van Eeden, chairperson of the judges for the SAFTAS.
Demanding apologies, retractions, and R1 million from each party for loss of income, psychological and reputational damage, Maboe also stipulated that they must pay him within three weeks.
If they don’t, his legal team will serve them with official damage claims.
Muller has derided Maboe’s actions as a “media stunt”, while the other parties have yet to publicly respond.
