“Law & Order” Star Mary Mara Found Dead
The body of well-known actress, Mary Mara, was found on the banks of the St. Lawrence River in the town of Cape Vincent, New York on Sunday morning, 26 June.
The New York State Police believe that the 61-year-old actress drowned while taking her morning swim and do not suspect any foul play at this time. However, an autopsy by the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office will have the final say.
The actress is known for her roles in various crime and drama series, particularly “ER,” “Law & Order”, and “Nash Bridges,” to name a few.
Speaking to a US media outlet on Monday, 27 June, Mara’s manager, Craig Dorfman, said: “Mary was one in a million – one of the best actresses I ever met. I saw her for the first time off-Broadway in 1992 in ‘Mad Forest’, and she was electrifying. She was unique, wickedly funny, and a wonderful woman who will be missed.”
Prior to retiring from acting in 2020, Mara specialised in playing “troubled characters”, according to her obituary. Her final appearance was in the 2020 film, “Break Even”.
The actress is survived by her ex-husband, her step-daughter, two sisters and a brother.
