Lebohang Mpyana, 34, Passes Away

Actress and comedienne Lebohang “Lettie” Mpyana has passed away at the age of 34.

In a family statement published on Mpyana’s Facebook account on Thursday, 2 November, it was revealed that she had died after succumbing to a “short illness.”

“We ask that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers in this time of bereavement. Memorial service and funeral service details will follow,” the statement concludes.

Mpyana is best known for playing Khelina on the telenovela, “DiepCity”, which ran from 2021 to 2023. Khelina was loved by fans for her over-the-top personality and gossip-mongering tendencies. The role earned Mpyana the Viewer’s Choice Best Actress award at the 2021 Royalty Soapie Awards.

Black Brain Pictures, the production company behind “DiepCity”, paid tribute to Mpyana in a subsequent statement.

“Lebogang Mpyana was an extraordinary individual who fearlessly pushed boundaries, defying expectations and inspiring many with her talent,” the statement reads. “Her departure leaves a void in our hearts and in the entertainment industry.

“Lebogang’s unique presence and unwavering dedication brought Khelina to life in a way that will never be forgotten. Her contributions will continue to inspire aspiring actors and actresses to pursue their dreams fearlessly, reminding them that perseverance and hard work can make a lasting impact.”
