Man United and Bayern Munich Gear Up for UEFA Match
As football fans count down the hours until Manchester United and Bayern Munich go head-to-head tonight, Wednesday 20 September, the managers on either side are evaluating their game plan.
Bayern will be confident with their home-turf advantage, as the two teams will be testing their strength against one another at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, for the group stage of the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League.
Pundits have placed high expectations on the hosts in the lead up to the match, but their English Premier League rivals won’t go down without a fight.
During the pre-match press conference yesterday, Man United manager Erik ten Hag revealed that Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane and Mason Mount are three of 12 players who are unavailable for the match.
Ten Hag went on to acknowledge that his limited selection of players was a “concern” but added that “we can deal with it, the squad can deal with it”.
The 53-year-old Dutch manager also mentioned that he expects his remaining squad to be ready for a tough game tonight, saying: “You cannot be unfocused for a split second. They have so much individual class.”
“We know Bayern, especially in the Champions League, are very strong at home. But we are looking forward [to it] as we like a challenge.” he added.
