Maritzburg Sack Coach Fadlu Davids
Maritzburg United coach, Fadlu Davids, has been given his marching orders after the club was kicked out of the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
Last week, Maritzburg were relegated to the National First Division after drawing 0-0 with newly-promoted PSL club, Cape Town Spurs.
As a result, Davids and his entire coaching staff have now parted ways with the Team of Choice.
“We informed the coach and his entire technical team that we will be letting them go, so they are free really to go wherever they wish,” explained club chairperson Farook Kadodia in an interview on Monday, 19 June.
Additionally, Kadodia indicated that talks between Davids and Moroccan outfit, Raja Casablanca, were made known to him a few days ago, which also contributed to Davids’ sacking.
“It’s disappointing, but we heard about talks with Raja Casablanca some 10 days ago and this is while we were still fighting for survival before [Maritzburg] eventually got relegated. But we wish coach Fadlu and his team all the best.”
Now free from his coaching duties, Davids is tipped to join Raja Casablanca’s technical staff and work alongside his former Orlando Pirates comrade, coach Josef Zinnbauer.
