Natasha Joubert Reigns as Miss South Africa 2023
Beauty queen Natasha Joubert has officially been crowned as Miss South Africa 2023 in a glitzy ceremony on Sunday, 13 August.
The 26-year-old fashion designer and model was selected as the 67th queen during an elaborate ceremony at the Sun Bet Arena in Tshwane, Gauteng on Sunday, 13 August. Joubert succeeds Ndavi Nokeri, the winner of the 2022 pageant, who took her last walk on the stage on the same evening.
Joubert is no stranger to the elite competition, having previously made it to the runner-up position in 2020, after which she went on to compete in the Miss Universe pageant the following year.
A spectator in the crowd was allowed to ask the newly crowned star a question, asking: “What aspects of South African culture and heritage do you believe should be highlighted more on the global stage?”
“We need to realise that our strength is in our diversity, and our shared humanity is what brings us together. We are only as strong as we are united, and as weak as we are divided. I know that you can’t walk a road alone,” said Joubert in response.
Bryoni Govender – who is a lawyer – was declared runner-up to the title, while Nande Mabala – who is a marketing assistant – reached third place in the televised competition.
