Orlando Pirates Beat Richards Bay 1-0
Orlando Pirates fought hard to secure a narrow 1-0 victory over Richards Bay FC on Sunday, 29 September.
Playing at King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, Pirates – despite their 63% possession of the ball – were kept on their toes throughout the first half by their hosts.
The second half followed the same pattern as the first, with both teams preventing each other from scoring.
Come the 82nd minute, though, the Buccaneers finally struck: after coming off the bench, substitute Kabelo Dlamini scored a successful free kick from the defensive line.
In the end, the Soweto giants scraped by with a 1-0 win against the Natal Rich Boys, marking their third successive Betway Premiership victory of the 2024/25 season. As such, they are currently sitting in second place on the Premier Soccer League rankings with nine points.
As for Richards Bay, they occupy tenth place on the rankings with a meagre four points.
