Pogba Leads Man United to the Top of EPL
For the first time in three years, Manchester United has risen to the top of the English Premier League (EPL) rankings – and it’s all thanks to Paul Pogba.
Taking on Burnley at Turf Moor on Tuesday, 12 January, United’s Harry Maguire headed a shot at the back post in the 36th minute. However, the goal was ruled out after a foul on Claret left back, Erik Pieters.
Fortunately, Pogba – who was previously rumoured to be unhappy at Old Trafford – managed to salvage the game in the 76th minute by volleying the ball into the net after meeting a cross from team-mate Marcus Rashford.
The Red Devils won the match 1-0, and as a result, they now top the EPL table with 36 points – three points ahead of reigning champions, Liverpool.
After the game, Pogba expressed his contentment with his club’s win, saying: “I’m happy we are playing well and happy we are at the top, but there is a long way to go and we have big games coming up.”
