Rhulani Mokwena Plays Down Transfer Rumours
Key players including the likes of Ronwen “Ronza” Williams and Teboho “Tebza” Mokoena will remain at Mamelodi Sundowns until the end of the 2023/2024 Premier Soccer League season.
That’s according to coach Rhulani Mokwena, who was interviewed by Thabiso Mosia for “Radio 2000” on Monday, 12 February.
Many Sundowns players were part of the South African national men’s team that took part in the recent AFCON tournament; resultantly, these players were highlighted and commended for helping the team achieve a third-place finish.
Now, rumour has it that other clubs are interested in signing them. However, Mokwena says he is not worried about losing his men anytime soon, especially since the transfer window closed last month.
“The good thing about this is that for the next six months, all of us – myself included, Tebza, Ronza, Gaston Sirino, Bongani Zungu, Sipho Mbule – [are] committed to make sure that we’re gonna be here until the end of the season,” he said.
“That means that everybody’s got to be invested and give 150% while they’re still at the club. Fortunately, that is our immediate focus and that we have our players coming back; the window is closed, so there can’t be any movements in and out anymore.”
