Sterling to Barcelona? Pep Guardiola Responds
Manchester City coach, Pep Guardiola, has responded to reports regarding Raheem Sterling’s future at the club, as well as Barcelona’s interest in the winger.
For the past few days, Sterling – who has fallen out of favour with the club during the current English Premier League season – has been linked with a move to Barca, who are reportedly exploring the possibility of a part-exchange deal.
The deal would see the 26-year-old Englishman heading to Camp Nou, while midfielder Frenkie de Jong would be transferred to the Citizens.
Speaking to reporters at a charity golf event in Spain on Monday, 8 November, Guardiola shared his thoughts on the rumours.
He said: “Honestly I have no idea. I don’t know anything. Not that I would tell you anyway. If Barcelona are interested in any of our players, I am convinced that they can get them. Barca continues to be an attractive club, more than attractive.”
Considering the Spanish giants’ financial restraints, an exchange would be seen as a better alternative to City outright selling Sterling. However, only time will tell if the winger will find himself leaving for Camp Nou.
