Tems Hints at New Music and Talks Kanye West in Recent Interview
Nigerian singer Tems gave fans a brief glimpse into her creative process and future plans during an interview at the Kick Game store in Covent Garden, London on Sunday, 1 September.
While discussing her debut album, “Born In The Wild”, the 29-year-old songstress – who is privately known as Temilade Openiyi – hinted at a possible deluxe edition, revealing she originally recorded 30 songs but narrowed it down to 18.
She teased that more features could still be released, though Future – whom she had collaborated with previously – will not be involved.
Openiyi also expressed her admiration for Kanye West, noting that she sometimes relates to the controversial rapper. She later shared insights into her friendship with American R&B artist, Brent Faiyaz, calling him “supportive”, and a genuine friend.
The singer recently became the first female Nigerian artist to reach 1 billion solo streams on Spotify, after the success of her debut album. She also revealed some of her top sneaker choices during the show, including the Air Jordan 4 Retro and the Adidas Handball Spezial.
Currently on the North American leg of her global “Born In The Wild Tour,” Openiyi is set to perform in major cities across Africa, Asia, and Australia, starting in October, continuing to capture audiences worldwide.
